Marketing is the Advertising of the 21st Century

Marketing is the advertising of the 21st Century. Or said another way, it's the new advertising!

That's because to promote a product or service today, you need more than advertising. You need an entire marketing strategy including advertising, direct mail, public relations, interactive, and sales promotion, to drive home the "defensible difference" that sells your product or service!

Years ago when life was simpler and there was a limited amount of media to choose from, a company could dominate the market with an ad blitz that could have the TM talking because customers weren't scattered, and were more easily reached!

Times have changed and so must tactics.

And that's why when promoting a product today, one must always keep marketing in mind!

What this means is before starting a campaign, one must fully understand the marketing strategy, and only then create advertising and allied tactics that will be memorable to the target market; satisfy their needs with the product being promoted and then get them to purchase! Marketing concept anyone?

As for advertising, it still may be the centerpiece of a broader campaign-but to really deliver it must always have Marketing in MindSM.
